The exact overhang and position of the cartridge are critical for achieving proper reproduction without distortion and also for preventing wear on the vinyl or the stylus itself. AVID has developed a computer program to calculate the optimal settings, taking into account the precise geometry of the tonearm. The result is a gauge with a mirrored surface that makes all measurements easier and more accurate. The mirrored parallax effect allows for the elimination of aiming errors and provides better illumination. Two null points for the given setting position are surrounded by parallel lines that form the body of the cartridge, making adjustments very precise from all sides.
