In active speakers today, we find almost all types of available speakers. The main advantage of active speakers lies in the lack of need to purchase an external amplifier; the speakers simply need to be plugged into the power grid. Built-in active speakers, which are equipped with their own control app or popular data transmission like Airplay 2 or Chromecast, have made significant progress in this segment, such as the English Lithe Audio. This eliminates the need to run speaker cables over long distances. Another rising type is active tower speakers, which offer a high-quality sound experience, exemplified by the LS series from KEF. Active outdoor, or durable speakers, which are also offered by Lithe Audio, are becoming part of the market as well. However, the most popular active speakers remain the bookshelf type, which can be used in smaller rooms, such as on a desk in an office or study, or in a smaller room. Among such speakers, we can recommend the smallest from the LS series by KEF or other models from this series for larger rooms. Typically, an active subwoofer can be connected to these bookshelf and tower speakers, creating a full-fledged stereo system.
