The M6x DAC is a new milestone in the history of Musical Fidelity converters. Its predecessor, the M6s DAC, was one of the first to use the award-winning ESS 32-bit HyperStream II DAC architecture, featured improved firmware, DSD, Roon Ready, and was even manufactured in the EU!
With the M6x DAC, we went even further. Based on experience with Sabre ESS chips, it was upgraded to the newer ES9038Q2M. Now, two are used in dual mono construction. The inclusion of the "Time Domain Jitter Eliminator" function results in an excellent SNR and THD+N ratio with incredibly detailed transient response. Other advances in the DAC section include upsampling and reclocking. Upsampling can be independently turned on or off. 16-core XMOS processors and CPLD MAX II Altera ensure ample space for these operations, and new digital filters ensure MQA processing. Individual RCA and balanced XLR outputs each have their own output buffer. Both output stages provide excellent sound quality and exhibit very low noise and distortion.
The M6x DAC features the latest generation of super-quiet power transformers developed at Musical Fidelity. Industrial-grade power supply with EMI filter and DC blocker stops interference and eliminates transformer hum. The encapsulated toroidal transformer with low core saturation is ideal for all audio components, especially digital audio components, due to its extremely low electromagnetic radiation. Last but not least, a great advantage is the built-in excellent headphone amplifier providing a wide bandwidth, extremely low noise, and a dynamic range of up to 128 dB.
