KEF Metamaterial Absorption Technology (Meta) is a patented technology developed by KEF to improve the sound performance of speakers. This technology uses a new generation of materials designed to effectively absorb unwanted sound waves within the speaker. Specifically, these are waves created at the back of the speaker that could reflect off surrounding walls and re-enter the speaker, potentially causing sound performance distortion. The KEF Meta material can absorb these waves and subsequently disperse them, reducing the unwanted effects of reflections and improving sound clarity. KEF's Meta technology is used in several speaker lines, including the R3 Meta bookshelf speakers.
