Subwoofers
Subwoofers are divided into active and passive. Most commonly, we encounter active ones, which have an integrated amplifier; such a subwoofer can be connected to almost any amplifier that has a dedicated subwoofer output or a pre-out output for the final stage. You can verify if your amplifier has this output in the device manual or on the back panel of the amplifier. An active subwoofer is connected with a subwoofer cable more here. A passive subwoofer is primarily found in larger high-end home theaters. A passive subwoofer requires an amplifier designed for subwoofers, which is connected with a standard speaker cable more here. A subwoofer can be purchased with downward, rear, side, and front-firing, which can also be placed in open cabinets.
